Success Stories
The Note Pourri...
Marsha
Adelman, owner of The Note Pourri at 518 Penn Avenue, has been a
business owner in West Reading for over 25 years. When Marsha
opened her store, she knew her extraordinary array of unique and
handmade gifts, greeting cards, and customized party and wedding
invitations/announcements, would be a wonderful addition to the
unique merchants on the avenue . . .
Gehris Tile...
Specializing
in custom and unique tiles and installation, Gehris Tile has been
in business since 1949, and part of the West Reading community
since 1987. Owners Rich and Linda Gehris enjoy the personalized
small town appeal, combined with good visibility and traffic flow.
As the borough goes through so many positive changes, each
business benefits from the partnership! We cant imagine doing
business anywhere
else, comments Rich.
Celtic Myth and Moonlight...
Joining
the West Reading family in 2003, Celtic Myth and Moonlight
offers the feeling of an old, authentic English or Scottish shop
retailing everything celtic from pewterware to tapestries,
celtic crosses, intricate knot work designed jewelry, decorative
fairies, journals, swords, and Renaissance clothing. Owners Dot
Knowles and Sandi Ludwig feel the future growth of West Reading
and the increasing diversity of eclectic and unique shops will
offer consumers a full and varied shopping experience.
Earth Rhythms...
In 1993,
Mark Seaman opened Earth Rhythms, a specialty store offering
African, Middle Eastern and Latin imported hand drums, because he
liked the variety of the surrounding businesses and the
affordability of the space. The growth we see in this community
is creating an exclusive, upscale shopping district with great
energy. The uniqueness of Earth Rhythms also includes a
childrens instrument section (music lessons are offered),
corporate team and community building workshops using music and
rhythm, as well as global music education school assembly
programs.
In 2003, Mark
combined efforts with Celtic Myth and Moonlight and Lotus Boutique
in a shared space concept, or as Mark terms it, symbiotic
marketing with like-minded businesses. Our shared visions and
similar products and services appeal to the same customer market .
. . together we offer in-store classes including bead making and
basic drumming, notes Mark. Earth Rhythms, Celtic Myth and
Moonlight and Lotus Boutique see West Reading becoming a
destination shopping experience . . . offering a wide variety of
distinct and unique stores that give shoppers a reason to visit
West Reading!

West
Reading attracts a more discerning customer who is clearly
interested in uniqueness and quality . . . a shopping
experience comparable to that of 30-40 years ago when
emphasis was on service and knowing your product inside and
out. The demographics offer a wonderful mix of businesses.

We
joined the West Reading family of businesses the beginning
of 2003 because of the tremendous potential
of this unique specialty shopping district. Big Kids Toyz
fits right in as we offer uncommon gifts, accents and
decor for home, office
or business . . . toys for big kids who have everything! We
feel theres strength in numbers and with the good
clientele, lower overhead and
the shopping uniqueness, we know West Reading will grow in
positive reputation and opportunity.
