THURSDAY ON PENN
The first
Thursday of every month is a special time on Penn Corridor.
Take a ride (or a walk) on Penn Street in Reading or Penn
Avenue in West Reading and Wyomissing and take advantage of
everything the Corridor has to offer. Visit cool shops, go
to great restaurants, and explore arts and entertainment
venues.
Just look for
the bright pink balloons. Wherever you see them, you'll know
it's part of the excitement of Thursday on Penn.

Managing
annual community events that celebrate the town, it’s history and
it’s future are an integral part of the Foundation’s work.
Improving West Reading’s image and presenting the Borough as a
great place to live, work and visit help make the future bright
and prosperous. Annual events include:
 
Art on the Avenue
held on the 3rd Saturday of June each year. The event showcases
Penn Avenue galleries and artistsian from around the country. Food stands,
entertainment and children’s activities compliment the event.
10AM-7PM.
Sidewalk Sale
four day event held on the 4th weekend in August
running from Thursday to Sunday. Combines a traditional
downtown sidewalk sale with a community sponsored flea market and
a community-wide yard sale on front lawns throughout the Borough.
The event draws crowds from miles around. Penn Avenue: 10AM-5PM.
Community Sites: 7AM-12PM.
Fall
Festival on the Avenue held on the 3rd
Saturday of September each year.
Enjoy plenty of live music along
Penn Avenue as you browse local shops' sidewalk sales.
Local restaurants offer specialty foods and a beer garden is set
up under tents in the West Reading Shopping Center parking lot.
Children's activities and much more. 12PM-9PM.
Holiday Glow Celebration begins on Black Friday and
continues through Christmas Eve. The event celebrates the
cultural diversity of the wider community and includes events
and activities sponsored by churches, fraternal clubs,
institutions and businesses. The annual tree lighting ceremony,
the arrival of Santa, window mimes, business open houses, church
concerts, caroling and model railroad displays are just a few of
the many delights scheduled. Various dates and hours.
